New rock songs continue to captivate fans of this immense musical genre. Although many consider the classics as the best, many have discovered a new love affair with rock music through the sounds, lyrics and style elements presented by new musicians. Whether they are created by a brand new band or the newest offerings of a long standing group, new rock songs continue to breathe vibrant life into the immortal rock and roll genre.
Disturbed
The Chicago born band, Disturbed, are still enthralling fans with their hard, powerful sound. The band was created on October 24th, 1995, making it relatively young compared to some of the greats. Still, Disturbed has truly made a name for itself by producing some of the most popular new rock songs on the radio and in record stores. The lineup includes David Draiman, Dan Donegan, John Moyer and Mike Wengren. When the group was first created, Disturbed included bassist Steve Kmak and vocalist Erich Awalt under the name Brawl.
The band’s name changed the following year with the introduction of vocalist David Draiman (who was hired on after Awalt left). The group produced two three track demo tapes, which included Down with the Sickness, The Game, Meaning of Life, Want, Stupify and Droppin’ Plates. Many of these would go on to rank among the best new rock songs in the mainstream market.
Deftones
The Deftones also continue to produce some of the greatest new rock songs adored by fans. The group came out of Sacramento, California in 1989. Hailing from the metal genre, the Deftone’s lineup includes Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Chi Cheng, Frank Delgado, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega. Vega currently fills in for Chi Cheng who is undergoing rehabilitation for brain damage sustained after a serious car accident. The incident took place on November 4th, 2008 and left Cheng in a coma-like state. As of May of 2010, he has shown a great deal of improvement and will sometimes respond vocally. Although he is a long way off from becoming an active member of the band again, he continues to progress.
The band’s debut album was titled Adrenaline and debuted on October 3rd, 1995. The recording was created in Seattle, Washington at the Bad Animals Studio. Prior to the recording, the Deftones played clubs before moving on to larger venues playing alongside big name groups including Korn. Adding to the collection of new rock songs, the Deftones released Diamond Eyes on May 4th, 2010. The album includes Diamond Eyes, Royal, You’ve Seen the Butcher, Beauty School, Prince, Rocket Skates, Sextape, Risk, This Place is Death and 976 – Evil.
